recap of our joint symposium

The Joint Symposium on Wetland Conservation and Sustainability, held on November 9 and 10 at the Brandenburg Academy «Schloss Criewen» in Germany, proved to be an enriching gathering. The symposium delved into crucial topics such as Fen Conservation & Restoration, Innovative Reuse of Fen Products, Balancing Economics & Environment, Energetic Utilization of Fen Resources, and Sustainable Business in Wetlands.

The event was characterized by exciting presentations that illuminated innovative approaches and solutions. One highlight was an exciting walk through the protected area of the Lower Oder Valley National Park, during which Dr. Vössing provided insightful information and anecdotes.

The ambience was enhanced by the delicious regional and organic cuisine with specially produced aurochs meat, which gave the dinner a unique touch.

The symposium concluded with a panel discussion in which the key topics were revisited to ensure a comprehensive overview and exchange of ideas. Participants took the opportunity to network, make new contacts and leave the symposium with new knowledge, inspired by various projects and motivated by a shared commitment to wetland conservation and sustainable practices.
